University of Bradford

The community we propose to set up at the University of Bradford will be associated with the University’s Digital Health Enterprise Zone project.  This will build on the three well attended pilot "develop an app in a day" courses hosted by the Faculty of Life Sciences in conjunction with NHS England and LiveCode.

There will be three broad themes in the University of Bradford Community:

1. Development and evaluation of e-health solutions.  This will contribute to the NHS Code4Health digital literacy goal e.g. coding workshops bringing together clinicians and coders, follow-up activities to develop specific healthcare related apps and an environment within the DHEZ in which it will be possible to evaluate and test potential e-health solutions.

2. Coding in the National Curriculum.  This will operate through the Faculty of Life Science’s existing STEM Centre, which already has considerable experience delivering STEM support for schools.

3. Development of Code4Health courses into MSc level modules.  This will be part of on-going plans to develop a healthcare informatics Masters’ programme within the Faculty of Engineering & Informatics.  This programme aims also to strengthen links with healthcare institutions and industry to improve adoption of health related technologies.
